I’m not normally a coffee drinker. This week, however, I have to admit to having more than my share. The upcoming holidays are an all around hectic time, but that’s not my only excuse.
Another reason I’m sufficiently over-caffeinated is I’ve been helping a friend, Daniel, on the launch of his new coffee brand, LIT Coffee. Meet Daniel in this one minute video and hear why LIT is such a special project (click here to watch if the video doesn’t appear).
Daniel was living in Malaysia when he had an encounter with a refugee family he’d never forget. I had a similar experience a few years before in Thailand. When we met in Bangkok, we found we shared the same passion to help underserved urban refugee communities. Since then he’s decided to combine his heart for people with his love of coffee, giving a portion of coffee sales from LIT to help. However, this social enterprise isn’t only about bringing needed donations. LIT will also be shining a light on what’s happening by bringing our stories of triumph over perilous circumstances to a larger audience. We’re confident these stories will only further inspire people to get involved.
Checkout LIT Coffee which officially launches this Friday, November 1st. They’ll be featured in the Divine Details store in NYC and will have their House Blend, which will help us provide housing, for sale online. The coffee is good and they haven’t just vaguely promised to help, LIT has already begun. This week I was already able to fund special activities with our kids thanks to their pre-launch sales!
